The gift of giving is the God-given ability to give freely of what God has entrusted.

Verse to consider:

  • 1 Chronicles 29:11

You may have the gift of giving if:

  • you regularly feel led by the Spirit to give

  • giving generously brings joy to your heart

  • you understand giving is an intricate part of serving

  • you see hospitality as a chance to give and take pleasure in meeting the needs of others

  • you strive to be financially wise so you can give more

  • you recognize that all you have is from the generous hand of the God who owns everything

  • you strongly believe in tithes and offerings

  • you give to bless and enhance the work of God through his church

At the same time, if you have the gift of giving:

  • you may run the risk of being controlling with money

  • you may pressure others to be more generous though they may not have the gift of giving

  • you may stretch yourself to thin by over-committing

  • you may financially give as a means to avoid serving in other ways

Here are some ministries where you might utilize the gift of giving:

(Click on the ministry title for a more complete description of that ministry.)

When choosing a ministry in which to serve according to your spiritual gift, keep in mind the unique mix of gifts the Spirit of God may have given you. Look for ministries that utilize more than one of your top potential gifts. Do not be afraid to test your gift mix in various ministries. Only by testing your gifts via serving can you be sure they truly are gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Serving according to your spiritual gifting, though often challenging, will bring joy into your life and the lives of those to whom you are serving.
